Following
negotiations between both agencies, Food Recue will be supported by and come
under the banner of UnitingCare West as of 1 May 2013.
UnitingCare
West is a not for profit community services agency based in Perth, that touches
the lives of thousands of families and individuals across Western Australia
each year. UnitingCare West has a
mission to support, serve and empower people particularly those most in need,
and currently operates 28 programs to support this mission. Programs cover the three key areas of
Independent Living and Accommodation, Mental Health and Disability, Community
and Family Services. Two of UnitingCare
West’s programs – Tranby homeless day centre and Wyn Carr House women’s refuge
– are currently recipients of the wonderful support of Food Rescue. In joining
UnitingCare West, Food Rescue increases the breadth of services that are
provided to those people experiencing hardship.
The important
work that Food Rescue does in addressing environmental and sustainability
issues remains a clear focus. The intent of the program is unchanged. The new relationship with UnitingCare West is
a purely operational one, and Food Recue will continue to operate as an
entirely philanthropic entity.
UnitingCare
West is committed to retaining the Food Rescue brand, mission and values; and
to continuing the significant progress and relationships that Food Rescue has
built up in its years of operation.
UnitingCare
West is a wonderful fit with the ethos of Food Rescue and we are confident that
this new partnership will lead to a greater impact on the lives of those that
both organisations seek to support.
